Couch Co-op Games on Steam

Shared and split-screen co-op means everyone plays on one machine, on one screen. It's the smallest category here and the one that's hardest to search for on Steam itself, because the store surfaces online modes far more aggressively.

What to check before you commit

  • Nearly all of these need one controller per player, and many need controllers specifically — keyboard-sharing is rare and awkward.
  • If you can't get everyone in the same room, cross-reference with Remote Play Together: most couch co-op games support streaming to friends, and then only the host needs to own the game.
  • Split-screen is sometimes cut from PC ports even when the console version had it. Steam's tag reflects the PC build, but not always promptly.
